Look up. What do you see? Better yet, what would you like to see? If you are satisfied with a blank white ceiling with basic lighting, then that’s great. But, if you are interested in exploring some ways to take your ceiling’s design to the next level, we’ve got a few suggestions.
One of the best ways you can spruce up your ceiling is by adding ceiling beams or exposed rafters. Both options add warmth to a space, pulling elements from nature into your home with warm wood tones.
Ceiling beams and rafters also provide a casual, yet sophisticated detail to your space that is sure to catch the attention of your guests. Whether it’s in your living room, dining area, kitchen or bedroom, these unique additions can be used to complement your current décor and color scheme.
Depending on the placement, type of wood used and how it is installed, these can create an industrial or rustic aesthetic within your space. If your ceiling is white, then dark wooden beams or exposed rafters will really pop and help make your room feel larger by drawing the eye up.
For those less adventurous homeowners out there, a bold accent color on the ceiling may be a better option. If this is the way you want to go, be sure to pair your bold ceiling color with a more neutral tone on your walls so as not to overwhelm your space with color.
No matter which route you choose to take, stop settling for the plain, flat ceilings. Add some extra details that will make your guests start looking up.
