Pantone Pairs Two Hues for 2016 Color(s) of the Year

Are you looking for inspiration with your home’s interior decorating in 2016?

For the first time in the brand’s history, Pantone revealed two shades for its much-anticipated Color(s) of the Year for 2016. ‘Rose Quartz’ and ‘Serenity’, which are much milder shades than previous years, are meant to challenge traditional perceptions around color association.

“In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design,” says Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Wiseman. “The lighter shades of the colors blur stereotypical gender associations and coincide with the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression.”

The annual announcement has been known to spread through interior finishes, home decor, fashion and many other aspects of design. Within a few days, major companies such as Keurig, West Elm and KitchenAid have already released a variety of appliances and decorative items inspired by the two colors.

Pantone forecasts the combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity to bring a sense of calmness and relaxation to interior settings. The two shades are ideal for rugs and upholstery, and can be mixed throughout the home with paint and decorative accessories. Coupling solid and patterned fabrics, throws, pillows and bedding in these shades provides a comforting sense of tranquility in the home.

The New Year is a great time to think about plans to freshen up your home’s interior!
