Sabal Homes Building in West Ashley

One of the first words that popped into our heads as we walked into the new model home in The Commons at Grand Oaks Plantation was, “personality.” Other words were “bright, functional, high quality and design.”

The Wadmalaw is Sabal Homes’ latest floor plan in The Commons (and our first model home in West Ashley!). This home spans 1,538 square feet and is a great example of how much “house” you can get for the price in today’s market.

When you enter the front door, an inviting foyer opens to a welcoming great room and kitchen. The kitchen is a foodie’s dream with an oversized island, granite countertops and a unique dining area that has a built-in window bench.

Upstairs, you’ll find a master bedroom with sitting area and a large bathroom featuring two sinks, a separate tub and a shower lined with subway tile (on trend, yet classic). The walk-in closet is nearly as large as the master bathroom, which made another word pop into our heads, “awesome!”

Also on the second floor are two additional bedrooms, a guest bath and laundry room.

A focus for the Wadmalaw plan was to provide customized functional spaces that made the most of the square footage. Details like the window bench in the kitchen and a built-in desk in one of the bedrooms are examples of how we accomplished this.

The new model home is located at 117 Larissa Drive. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Commons at Grand Oaks is one of the 12 individual West Ashley neighborhoods with a common entrance from Bees Ferry Road. Home prices in The Commons at Grand Oaks range from the $140s to the mid-$160s.

Grand Oaks Plantation sits in a very desirable location, just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston and close to plenty of shopping and restaurants. Within Grand Oaks, there are a host of amenities, including trails, swimming pools, parks and the Bees Landing Recreation Center.
