Incorporate Pantone’s Color of the Year into Your New Charleston Home

With 2014 well on its way, Pantone recently announced its color of the year: Radiant Orchid, a harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. If you’re looking to freshen up your home a bit, consider adding this trendy hue into your décor.

“Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

To incorporate this eye-popping lilac color into your home’s design, the folks at Pantone suggest using it in paint, accent pieces and accessories. Try a radiant orchid throw on the couch, a vibrant vase or pillows throughout the room. Do you dare paint an accent wall in this wonderful shade of purple?

Radiant Orchid pairs well with olive and deeper hunter greens, as well as turquoise, light yellow or even teal. Pantone notes that the color also brightens up neutrals like gray, taupe and beige and brings an element of energy to any space.

Last year’s color of the year was Emerald Green, symbolizing prosperity and growth, while Radiant Orchid “intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination.”
