Stepping outside as the seasons change is like stepping out into a whole new world. The warmth of the air, the sound of birds chirping nearby, and the familiar fragrance of Lowcountry blossoms all seem to envelope you in a comforting embrace.
It is certainly a magical time of year, and for fans and friends of the Lowcountry, it means that it is also time for one of our favorite Spring traditions: The YMCA Flowertown Festival in Summerville.
This popular arts and crafts event gives us the chance to soak in all the beauty that the Lowcountry has to offer. Showcasing local artists, food from local restaurants, a Farmer’s Market, and rides and activities for the kids, it is no wonder that this event was ranked as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by Southeast Tourism Society.
More than 200,000 people flock to this event every year. And while the local flavors of Summerville are a big draw, the main attraction is the flowers.
From purple wisteria and white dogwood to the breathtaking azalea bushes and hydrangea, the landscape of the Lowcountry is bursting with life and color, and the aroma of these local blossoms add an extra dose of sweetness to the already fragrant air.
Come see what all the excitement is about April 1-3, as the Flowertown Festival hits the streets of Summerville. The hours for the event are 9am-6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9am-4pm on Sunday.
If you haven’t already, mark your calendar for this special event. We hope to see you there!
