Elegance Reigns in Fall Color Report

Pantone-Fall-Color-Report-2014

As you plan your fall décor and wardrobe, be sure to incorporate the fall Pantone color selection for 2014 for a fashionable touch. By adding a pillow, throw, new wall art or other small accessories you can quickly give any room an update for the season.

For autumn, Pantone has chosen a mix of colors, including reds, blues, greens, browns and yellows. “This is a season of untypical colors—more reflective of the imagination and ingenuity, which makes for an artful collection of colors and combinations not bound by the usual hues for fall,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “There is a feminine mystique that is reflected throughout the palette, inspired by the increasing need for women everywhere to create an individual imprint.”

She describes the color palette for fall as a fascination with the “beauty of the past and the spirit of the present—recreating it with color, fabric and style this fall season.”

For its color of the year, Pantone selected the multi-faceted Radiant Orchid, a shade of purple that pairs well with many different hues. Another purple for this season includes Mauve Mist, a lighter and romantic color that reflects femininity and is reminiscent of the deco era. Cypress, the green selected for fall, complements both and is described as majestic and powerful.

Pantone’s palette includes two reds, both of which are sophisticated and bold. Sangria invokes a sense of glamour and adventure, while Aurora Red adds verve and spark. Cognac, a light brown described as classy, cultured and sumptuous, stands as a neutral for this fall. Misted Yellow is the bright hue in the bunch, a sunny yellow hinting of the upcoming spring, while Aluminum adds another neutral to the mix with its silver shade.

Finally, two blues add yet another layer of elegance. Bright Cobalt has a slightly green undertone, while Royal Blue takes the typical navy up a notch!
