Celebrating Independence Day Lowcountry Style

Fireworks (1)It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through summer with July 4 festivities already upon us! As your family plans for this patriotic day, we’ve put together the best ways to celebrate Independence Day in Charleston.

Independence at Cane Bay

We are honored to sponsor this free Patriotic event for the family, taking place on the Cane Bay High School athletic fields. Grab the kids and come on out from 6 – 10 p.m. for a professional fireworks display, climbing wall, inflatable water park, food trucks and many more activities for the entire family! Learn more about the vendors and see photos from last year’s event online.

Patriot’s Point, Mt Pleasant

Is there anything more patriotic than viewing fireworks from the deck of an aircraft carrier? You can do just that in Mount Pleasant at the Patriot’s Point fireworks. Special tickets are available for the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, or, of course, you can see the fireworks from plenty of other locations around Mount Pleasant and downtown Charleston. The event also includes entertainment by a beach music band, so be sure to bring along your best shagging moves!

Red, White & Blue on the Green, Summerville

If you live in one of our Summerville or Goose Creek neighborhoods, you’ll want to be sure to stop by the Red, White & Blue on the Green event at Gahagan Park in Summerville. This free event includes a fireworks show, kids’ zone, live entertainment, beer garden, plenty of food vendors and even a walking parade!

Isle of Palms Front Beach

Watching the fireworks explode over the ocean and its dark black sky is definitely a unique experience. Bring your own chairs and park them on the beach at Isle of Palms front beach for a spectacular oceanside fireworks show. If you don’t live on the island, however, be prepared for a long line of traffic to get back into Mount Pleasant after the show is over. Plan to hang out on the beach awhile before attempting to return home.

Riverfront Park, North Charleston

The City of North Charleston boasts the Lowcountry’s largest fireworks display at Riverfront Park on July 4. The July 4 Festival, which runs from 3-9 p.m., includes a laser light show, kids activities, live music, food trucks and more. Be sure to bring your own chairs and blankets to this free event.
