Buy Local Month in Charleston is Growing Greener Than Ever

It’s time to stand up and embrace your inner ‘locavore’.

From Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, Charleston is celebrating a growing movement that has sprouted by Lowcounty Local First – The 9th Annual Buy Local Month. The concept is simple; shop local, eat local, go local.

When you support local businesses you’re giving back to your community, helping create jobs, eating healthier and contributing to positive growth for the Lowcountry. Buying local allows for 45% of those dollars to be used within our community.

That being said, let this month be a fresh beginning for you to start living the local lifestyle. Uproot your old shopping habits and start enjoying the fruits of local labor. Your wardrobe will be one-of-a-kind, fruit and veggies will taste better and your community will flourish beautifully.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate this grassroots movement, join Lowcountry Local First at the Buy Local Block Party on Nov. 21. For just $10 you can enjoy three local bands, 35+ local makers and artisans to help with holiday shopping, a local Bloody Mary bar, a mobile cigar lounge, and more!

Beyond these events, you can show your support throughout the year by shopping local and becoming a regular at the local farmer’s markets throughout the area like the Summerville Farmer’s Market.

When life hands you locally grown lemons, add them to your sweet tea and celebrate being a Charleston area local.
