Happy holidays! Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s time to start preparing for the holiday season and all of the fun that comes with it.
With so many activities popping up across the Lowcountry it can be difficult to keep up. That’s why we’ve created a guide to the top holiday events happening around town this month.
First up is the annual Isle of Palms Holiday Street Festival this Saturday. Kicking off the holiday season in true island style, the festival will feature live music, carnival rides, food and craft vendors and a special appearance from St. Nick himself!
It may not be as huge as Rockefeller Center, but it is awfully close. Head over to the heart of downtown Charleston for the annual tree lighting in Marion Square! Including appearances from some of the most iconic holiday characters, this musical extravaganza will culminate in the lighting of the official City of Charleston Christmas tree, which stands at a magnificent 60 feet tall.
It’s not very often that you get to celebrate the holiday season on the water, but in the Lowcountry, it’s almost a holiday unto itself. Join the Rotary Club of Charleston as they host the Holiday Parade of Boats and enjoy savory foods, holiday tunes and a showcase of festive boats dressed in their holiday best.
Enjoy a fashionably upscale New Year’s Eve Ball at the Johnson Hagood Stadium. This all-inclusive event includes light hors d’oeuvres, bar service and live entertainment from DJ Cato K, the Quiana Parler and Friends Band, Melanie Porras, DJ D-Nyce, Matt Monday and additional surprise performances throughout the evening.
What better way to celebrate a new year than on the USS Yorktown? Every year, this national landmark is transformed into one of Charleston’s premier New Year’s Eve event spaces and includes a variety of bands and DJ’s from genres including dance, funk, rock, hip hop, 80’s and Top 40 Billboard.
